Superleague Pub Pool Table. Free play, slate bed, napped wool cloth.External dimensions : 6 x 36. Very good condition. Sale to include 4 pool cues 18oz, Freewheeler wall mounted cue holder, triangle, balls, Superleague key and table cover. All as shown in photos. Cover has a few marks and slits but does a great job of keeping the dust off.
In 1973 a company called Hazel Grove Music based in Stockport Cheshire who also operated coin pool tables and Juke Boxes developed a pool table that had smaller pockets and cabinet dimensions than the American game and called it the Superleague table which is now legendary and changed the face of the pool game in the UK.Suddenly there was a UK slate bed pool table that was smaller than the American tables but the perfect size to fit in to the pubs, clubs and homes in the UK and with its napped wool cloth and the same ball to pocket ratio as snooker we had a table that fitted all locations and provided a skill level to suit the better player and a great fun game for the novice. In the very early days the late Alex Higgins endorsed the table and appeared at exhibitions demonstrating the finer points of the Superleague table.
