Fine quality antique revolving billiard, snooker cue rack from early Victorian era created in mahogany and walnut with bun feet. Sensational aged patina.
Raised on three bun feet and revolving around a central turned pillar. The stand is designed to hold eighteen cues and rests, fifteen around the outside held in place by brassed spring clips and three through separate holes in the middle. The top is decorated with four turned ball shaped finials, one large middle one and three smaller ones. The cue rack does come apart as the turnings and finials all have wooden threads.
The item is in very good condition. All of the cue holders are in tact, there are no chips in the wood, the bun feet are secure, there is no sign of any repairs and the revolving mechanism works as it should. There are the odd honourable blemishes which one would expect from a piece of this age and they have faded over the years having been polished through. New baize could be fitted to receive the base of the cues if desired and the brass cue holders could be polished.
Very rare piece and fantastic antique.
Included in the sale are 7 antique cue sticks – these will need new cue ends but that is easily done.
