Boasting glossy deep burgundy foliage, Ajuga reptans ‘Mahogany’ is a low-growing, mat-forming semi-evergreen perennial that makes excellent ground cover. Short spikes of deep lilac-blue flowers rise above the carpet of glossy bronze leaves from April to June, attracting bees and butterflies. Thriving in any position from full sun to full shade, this vigorous, low-maintenance bugle makes a beautiful weed suppressant or edging for paths or borders. Height: 15cm (6in). Spread: 15-145cm (0.5-4.5ft).

How to Grow

Grow Bugle plants into any moist, well-drained soil. Plants will perform best in partial shade, as full sun can cause leaf scorch. Ajuga will even tolerate poor soils in full shade. Makes excellent ground cover for shady corners.

Ajuga plants are virtually maintenance-free, and do not required any pruning. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps every three years to maintain their vigour.
