Taffs Well V Cathays Cons

Last years champions against last years runners up! What an opening, however Cathays Cons are a much changed team from last year as the main players have formed a new team at Park Cons. Taffs Well are a hard team to beat generally but maybe lack of practice may catch them out at this early stage in the season.

Prediction : Taffs Well win

Savoy v Senghenydd

The first of the new teams Savoy playing at home against stalwarts Senghenydd. Savoy with Graham Bailey and Colin Lane will be hard to beat but Senghenydd have plenty of experience and is too close to call.

Prediction : 3-2 win either way!

No Balls v SWS

No Balls formely Gower B can beat anyone on their day and have 2 decent players in their squad and if those 2 can win could set them up by dishing out a shock result. However SWS have too many quality players that have experienced Tuesday league snooker and will be hoping to go better this season

Canton Libs Z V Canton Libs A

A derby game here - newly formed Z formerly Wellington Rileys will want to make a good start against their rivals A and this is another hard game to call

The New Park v Gower

The New Park are technically the runners up from last year but moved venue so should be hard to beat. The gower are struggling before the season has started and will be a tough year for them.

Prediction : The New Park win

Canton Libs B v Cardiff University

A battle of the rivals - always a tough match to call but with Tuesday league players available could tip the balance in the University's favour

Prediction : Cardiff University win

Rumney BL v Trec B

The old vs the young! The kids will be entering this year with a bit more confidence as they have a season of experience under their belt and will always pick up frames, but probably dont have the consistency to win matches just yet, but they are a team to watch as they are improving quickly.

Prediction : Rumney BL win

Trec C v Roath Labour

Newly formed Trec C have a tough opener against Roath Labour and will find it hard like their B side last year, although they are capable of shock results although I cant see it here

Firstly, with teams in both divisions set to visit the University at least once this season you are reminded that the Students Union Games Room is now alcohol-free and therefore you will not be offered an alcoholic drink by your opponents, nor be able to buy your own. As a result the University captains also instruct their players not to ask for alcoholic drinks for their away games. Secondly, you are reminded that home teams are expected to provide food for the opposition and to buy drinks for their opponents. On several occasions last year this seemingly didn't happen.
