DAVIS JOE1928-51 WORLDBILLIARDS & SNOOKER CHAMPION ORIGINAL INKAUTOGRAPHJoseph Davis,OBE(15 April 1901 10July 1978) was an English professionalsnookerandEnglishbilliards player.He was the dominant figure in snooker from the 1920s tothe 1950s. He won the first 15World Championshipsfrom 1927 to 1946. He wasWorldBilliards Champion4 times between 1928 and 1932. Coinciding with his peak as a billiards player, Davis’s interestsshifted to snooker and he helped to organise thefirstsnooker world championship in 1927and won the tournament bybeatingTom Dennis, for which he wonUK6 10s. He went on to win theworld championship every year until 1940. Joe’s brother Fred, twelve years hisjunior, was also a snooker player and multiple World Champion.
